Question 1: Is our energy use is sustainable?

A problem does exsist; we are using more of our nonrenewable resources than our renewable resources. We are using more resources than we can produce, such as, coal is a nonrenewable resource. Coal is formed from fossilized plants compressing over millions of years, so since fossilization takes so long it is much harder to produce such resources. Coal takes millions of years to be created, therefore, we are using it faster than it can be produced. Also other commodities such as wood, paper, and leather should be considered to be reused, because like coal and other non renewable resources, it takes longer to make them as compared to just reusing them. The United States uses about 92%of coal for generating electricity at this rate coal will no longer be present for our consuming.

  1. Your information is not convicing enough. Give me more statistics so i can understand how bad it is. Also, I don't see any solutions to the problem.

  2. Good answer, try talking about why renewable rescources are better, and how long they will last. Then talk about some other bad things that have to do with nonrenewable energy scources.

  3. you should say something about the other major sources such as uranium and propane and tell us how much is left of each and how we can solve these problems

  5. There's not really enough facts to show why you answered that there is a problem. Also, the chart is kind of small but that isn't a big deal.

  6. I like your answer however i would make sure state some more nonrenewable sources that cant be produced.

  7. you should explain what the problem that exists a little further. You should use more sources other than coal. But I like the information there.

  8. point out the flaws for each because there are a few for the non-renewable and renewable

  9. i like your reasoning behind your answer, but more information would help. i like how you have statistics though! just add a little more?

  10. This is a good answer and very true, but it would bring more understanding if you gave more examples and reasoning behind it.

  11. I like it it was short sweet and to the point!

  12. Maybe include more facts about other non renewable resources as well as coal. and information about what we could use instead.

  13. you guys need to do more research and gather more facts.

  14. Make sure you research more renewable sources, or mention those at some point. Maybe compare renewable sources to nonrenewable ones?? Also, make sure you state that ALL nonrenewable sources can't be reproduced and there's only a limited amount. Not just coal. I'm diggin the stats though. Just make sure to embellish more on the "big picture" with more statistics about our energy sources.
